Resurrection is amazing because it goes against our normal experience of the world: once dead there is not coming back. One of the things then that Easter Sunday shows is that there is a power in the world that can bring life out of death. That’s a power the Apostle Paul wanted to know in the everyday of his life (Philippians 3:10) because it transformed his life giving hope, assurance, joy etc… Resurrection is has so much application for life, here are some comments about it by other authors:
John Climacus: Obedience is a freely chosen death, a life without cares, danger without fears, unshakable trust in God, no fear of death… Obedience is the burial of the will and the resurrection of humility.
Watchman Nee: Our old history ends with the cross; our new history begins with the resurrection.
Martin Luther: Our Lord has written the promise of the resurrection, not in books alone but in every leaf in springtime.
Karl Barth: Grace is the incomprehensible fact that God is well pleased with a man, and that a man can rejoice in God. Only when grace is recognized to be incomprehensible is it grace. Grace exists, therefore, only where the Resurrection is reflected. Grace is the gift of Christ, who exposes the gulf which separates God and man, and, by exposing it, bridges it.
