Towards Easter …

February 20, 2023

Summary

It’s almost Lent… which starts on Ash Wednesday, Feb 22nd this year. Lent is the season of preparation for Easter and during which, the spiritual disciplines of prayer, fasting, repentance, giving, simple living and self-denial are typically emphasised. The purpose is to prepare ourselves for the horror and jubilation of Easter: Jesus’ death and resurrection. To aid with this preparation we will look at the following during our Sunday gatherings

  • Repentance: the Cross and Baptism, Psalm 51; Romans 6:1-14 (Feb 26th)
  • The Cross as foolishness, 1 Cor 1:18-25, John 2:13-22 (Mar 5th)
  • The Cross as life, Eph 2:1-10, John 3:14-21 (Mar 12th)
  • The Cross as transformation, Jer 31:31-34; Heb 5:5-14; John 12:20-33 (Mar 19th)
  • The Cross as coronation, Mark 14:43-51; Mark 15:16-32; Phil 2:5-11 (Mar 26th)
  • Tears for Peace, Luke 19:28-48 (Apr 2nd)
